The original film in this franchise had a great premise but failed to do anything with the concept and I wasn't expecting anything with the sequel but was stunned by how much the production team developed the idea , so much so that I was genuinely excited to seeing the next film in the series which is a rare occurrence for me to get excited about upcoming film.
As the trailers were released earlier in the year I did feel my excitement being negated and felt we'd be getting more of the same from a concept that with hindsight might not have much in the way of legs. You could say the studio has been honest and constructed a trailer that is refreshingly accurate and what you see is what you get but is a backhanded compliment really a compliment?
Worse than that the trailer is edited in chronological order and there's no surprises. One great thing about ANARCHY was that the story revolved around the mystery and the enigma of the mysterious violent anti-hero who had his own motives for trawling the streets during purge night. Here there's no mystery or character development. Here Sgt Leo is a knight in shining white armour saving the Senator from the fascist establishment and purgers thereby trying to save America from its extreme elements.

This film was great. Still, I went in with high expectations and they were met. This film - though one of it's major themes is political - is fantastic. It shows many purges and at times is highly disturbing, which makes it a great film. The whole idea of The Purge is eerie in itself and this film shows as well as the others that people will kill for anything and most will enjoy it. I must applaud the people who created the costumes; every single piece of clothing the purgers wore was haunting and the masks, well, they were brilliant and effective.
The acting was brilliant, the story line was brilliant. The dialogue as well was excellently disturbing at times. When you see it, you'll know what I mean. Go see this, enjoy it for what it is. It's not realistic, we will never have the annual Purge available for us in the future so enjoy it as a movie. The concept is original, it shows that we are primitive in nature and given the opportunity, many of us would put those 12 hours to use. Excellent thriller that has you screaming for more by braddles If you liked the first 2 purges, or at least the second one, you'll love this.
So far the only negative reviews I've seen come from conservatives who really hate liberals and their "agenda". Granted this movie is heavy on politics and the main bad guys are portrayed as all white old men. However there are plenty of gang fights and killings as well as a group of psychotic murderous black girls, contrary to the reviews that say "all the white people are depicted as bad, and all the minorities are depicted as good".
However if you can put all that aside and just enjoy the movie for the action packed thrill ride that it is, you won't be let down. I hope for more purges in the future, but if not, it was a hell of a ride. A Rarity that Completes the Trilogy by in 8. It's a rare trilogy that the last film is both the best and smartest of the 3, and this is one of those rarities.
After suffering a dropoff with the second, Anarchy, from the first in the series that created a world we wanted to see and know more about, we're back to wanting to see more. On the other hand, this completes the series perfectly, or as close as it may ever get to it, and they should let it end here. Once again, this is not sci-fi. That hasn't changed. It was more of a sick twisted action movie then scary.
Loved it, I would say for the 4th movie to make it scarier but an unreal movie. I really hope there is another movie after. I think included more scary parts will make it better. Loss focus and became more action. Please produce more purge movie and asap. If you liked purge 1 or 2, you will love 3. If you never watch the purge you will love it. I do say watch Purge 2 before 3. Overall I would give this movie a 9 out of That's the only improvement I can say to make.

I can't wait for it to be released on bluray because I want to add it to my collection. This movie had so much more story and depth and character development compared to it's predecessors.
Ultimately, it was a genuinely great story that speaks volumes on the depravity of mankind, the injustices in governments that are run by the elite rich, and the oppression of the lower class all of which are modern topics of debate.
It was beautifully put together, with great acting and a good suspenseful soundtrack. I liked the way they portrayed the purgers in this movie, because they had the most personality out of all the previous movies, and they demonstrated how evil people really enjoy their work of purging, especially.
But it also shows how a cast of people from so different backgrounds could work together for a common good, and how our differences mean so little when we stand together for something good and right and just. Another success; The Purge franchise hasn't messed up quite yet. So knowing that the first film was pretty good, leading to the second that actually managed In my opinion to rise itself a bit higher.. With all of that being said, this film as a whole was intriguing. It had a pretty good villain to hero - type of plot going for it, and that stood out well for the entire film.
We, the audience are overall sitting intrigued, unable to look away as we're greeted with surprises on every corner, challenge after challenge, and overall ordeal of action that strikes fear to those watching. The scenes of action were intense, and thrilling.
